It was reported that journalists protested on Saturday against the alleged ‘murder attempt and assault on modesty’ of a woman reporter of a Guwahati-based television news channel at the Latasil Police station in Assam.
According to the police statement filed by the journalist, she and the camera operator for the DY365 TV news channel were on their way to the police station at about 12.15 pm to cover a story when they were attacked by police officers. According to the FIR filed by the police, they gained entry to the police station compound with permission from a policeman at the gate, where they took pictures of the dilapidated condition of the premises and the quarters rented to others by policemen.
