With the legality of medicinal marijuana in many states, many people are wondering about whether they should opt for this plant for treating and curbing several medical conditions.

We have jotted down the medical conditions below where cannabis appears to be a useful treatment. We recommend going through the list and then consulting your doctor who is familiar with your health history because the final recommendation will be from your doctor.

Here are the health conditions that can be treated with marijuana.

    Table of Contents

    • Chemotherapy Pain
    • MS (Multiple Sclerosis)
    • Mental Health
    • Stress Management
    • Other Potential Conditions that CBD Can Cure
    • Chronic Pain

    Chemotherapy Pain

CBD is highly effective for curbing cancer pain and the discomfort that can result from the side effects of cancer treatment, such as appetite loss, nausea, and vomiting. It is important to mention here that there is a common misconception about cannabis that it can treat cancer.

However, the thing is that CBD cannot “treat” cancer – it can decrease the intensity of the side effects caused by chemotherapy. Many people hear about the myth that CBD can treat cancer, and when they get diagnosed with cancer, they delay their treatment because they turn to marijuana to treat cancer.

So, instead of delaying your cancer treatment (in case you get diagnosed with cancer), you will want to work closely with your healthcare professional so that you don’t miss out on any treatment. However, to control the side effects of cancer treatment, you will want to get a recommended prescription from a licensed doctor before applying for a medical card in Texas to avail of the medicinal benefits of this plant.

The bottom line regarding CBD and cancer is that marijuana seems to help decrease the pain and effects of cancer treatment.

    MS (Multiple Sclerosis)

At least one million Americans live with the extreme pain of MS, also known as Multiple Sclerosis. According to a 2017 survey, at least 66% of people suffering from MS relied on medicinal marijuana to curb the pain and relax the muscles.

This aspect indicates that marijuana allows MS patients to cut back on their medications because the natural plant is more effective. Moreover, unbeknownst to many, MS-affected people are the second biggest category of people who use marijuana to curb their chronic pain.

    Mental Health

Marijuana plays a crucial role in lifting one’s mood and calming one’s chronic stress. More than 90% of people with chronic stress have testified that marijuana helps. Marijuana is also helpful in the treatment of PTSD (post-traumatic disorder).

While the data related to marijuana and mental health is not widely available, we know that cannabis is effective in decreasing depression and stress at work. According to a 2028 study, more than three thousand depressed individuals who used medical marijuana stated that they felt at least 50% better after a few puffs of high-CBD and low-THC marijuana.

It is important to mention here that dosage matters a lot when it comes to using drugs in terms of medication. And when it comes to marijuana, you will want to know that more is bad, which is why you will want to start with a low dose.

Also, ask your healthcare provider about the recommended dose because potency differs as per the form in which you are taking marijuana. The potency level also depends on the strain, so it is essential to consult with a doctor to approach medicinal marijuana with caution.

    Stress Management

Another aspect that is part of mental health and exists everywhere is stress. And when it comes to the connection between cannabis and stress, things appear brighter as marijuana can significantly reduce one’s stress level.

The users of marijuana take to the plant for relaxation and state that even a small amount of cannabis can help you feel better. There are several ways to use CBD to manage stress, including a patch that you can apply to the skin, CBD oil, CBD tincture, and CBD in powder form to vape or some.

Again, if you have never experienced the use of cannabis before, you will want to start with a lower ratio. For starters, you will want to opt for 7.5 mg of THC, less than the THC percentage you can find in most marijuana edibles.

However, if you even go slightly higher, such as 12.5 mg, it won’t curb your anxiety but will increase it and only add to your stress.

CBD has been found effective for PTSD as the right strain of marijuana can soften fear memories that can flood through the brain in response to a trigger. So, if you or some loved one has PTSD, and cannabis is legal in your state, then you can have e legal doctor prescribe you CBD to curb stress, anxiety, and PTSD.

Other Potential Conditions that CBD Can Cure

At this point, you might be wondering about other conditions That CBD can cure. There are mixed results regarding CBD and curing certain health issues, including Alzheimer’s disease, migraines, and fibromyalgia.

Nonetheless, it has been found that CBD can also cure other health concerns, such as glaucoma, dementia, Crohn’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease. You can also use medicinal migraines to curb the intensity of migraines and ulcers.

However, you will always want to consult a doctor before applying for medicinal marijuana so that you know about the required percentage and whether you need to take other meds with the marijuana or not. Sometimes, it is better to stick with proven medicines instead of solely relying on marijuana.

    Chronic Pain

More than six hundred thousand people living in the USA turn to CBD to relieve chronic pain, and there is scientific evidence proving the effectiveness of medicinal marijuana for chronic pain. Cannabis can reduce at least 40% of the pain that people experience from nerve pain and spinal cord injury. Peripheral neuropathy, HIV, chemotherapy, rheumatoid arthritis, MS, and chemotherapy. In a recent study, cannabis has effectively soothed lab rats with arthritis. So, the bottom line is that cannabis also seems to help with chronic pain.

However, as with everything else, you will want to get a consultation from your doctor before you start to use medicinal marijuana.
