As spring pushes its way past winter, it’s the perfect time to revive your conservatory for the warmer months.
Spring cleaning your conservatory isn’t just about giving it a quick clean and tidy; it’s about rejuvenating the atmosphere, enhancing its functionality and creating a welcoming space for relaxation and enjoyment. Unlike the rest of your home, spring cleaning your conservatory involves cleaning both the inside and the outside.
Before you get started though, throw open some windows and the door to let some fresh air in!
Decluttering and Organising
For any successful deep clean, you need to start with decluttering.
Over the winter months, it’s easy to use your conservatory as a storage space. Begin by gathering and removing anything you may have dumped in there for the time being such as Christmas decorations. Once the more obvious items have been removed, sort through furniture, decorations and other miscellaneous items. Set aside anything you no longer need or want and consider donating or selling the items in good condition. Make sure to responsibly dispose of the rest!
With the clutter gone, it’s time to organise what remains. You should arrange your furniture and accessories smartly; maximising the space and functionality of your conservatory. Depending on the purpose of your conservatory, it might be worth considering storage solutions such as shelves, baskets or cabinets. Allowing you to keep items neatly stowed away.
Cleaning Inside
When cleaning, it’s always best to start from the top and work your way down.
Dust the ceiling fan, corners and light fixtures as well as any exposed beams or rafters. Making sure to get rid of any cobwebs lurking about.
Next, you’ll want to focus on the windows and doors, which are prone to accumulating dirt and grime. Use either a glass cleaner or warm water with some washing up liquid and wipe it down. Once you’re done, give the glass one final wipe down with a micro-fibre cloth to remove any remaining streaks. Don’t forget to wipe down the windowsills and frames too!
You can then turn your attention to your floors. Give them a sweep or a vacuum, although if a lot of debris has gathered, you should do both to thoroughly remove any dust and dirt. You may also want to mop or steam clean your floor to get an even fresher look. Just be careful as some floors are more water-resistant than others like luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) and it’s usually best to not use an excessive amount of water anyway.
Refreshing the Interior
Consider polishing the fixtures and furniture in your conservatory to bring them back to life; make sure to use the proper cleaning products though. Pay attention to door handles, knobs and hinges as well as decorative accents and trims. If you’re doing a deep clean, you may as well cover all bases!
Bring potted plants or fresh flowers into your conservatory too for a refreshing change. Infusing your space with greenery and life, creating a calming atmosphere. You could consider updating your cushions or throws with airy fabrics that have a spring colour palette.
Cleaning the Outside
It isn’t just the inside of your conservatory that you need to focus on – the outside needs some TLC too!
Clean the roof using soapy water and a sponge, you’ll want to rinse it off with a hose after you’ve scrubbed away any grime that’s built up. Check over the gutters to see if there are any blockages; given how brutal the winter weather has been, it’s worth a look.
With the exterior tidied and cleaned, you’ll likely notice that the inside of your conservatory is even lighter!
Spring Cleaning Your Conservatory
Now that your conservatory is looking clean and fresh, you’ll want to have a regular cleaning schedule to keep it looking that way.
Remember to routinely check the windows, doors and seals to make sure they’re in good condition and free from leaks or drafts. It’s important to address any of these issues immediately to prevent damage.
